Advent Challenge – Day 20 & 21 – O Oriens & O Rex Gentium

DayspringUnfortunately I didn’t manage to post last night, the Mayan Apocalypse failed me, and it turns out we’re all still here and I have to keep up with the posts!  So, I’m combining yesterday’s with today.

Yesterday’s O Antiphon was O Dayspring

O Radiant Dawn, splendor of eternal light, sun of justice: come, shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death

And today’s is O King of All Nations or a more direct translation of the Latin would be O King of the Gentilesrexgentium

O King of all the nations, the only joy of every human heart; O Keystone of the mighty arch of man, come and save the creature you fashioned from the dust

I really love these two Antiphons because they’re really for us!  I sometimes forget about the fact that I am a Gentile, and that through Christ I have been received into God’s family as one of His chosen people too.  I also am one of those “dwelling in darkness and the shadow of death”, it doesn’t really seem that way with all the Christmas lights, and carols and candy cane lattes, but I also need Christ to be the light in my life and my home.

Speaking of lights, I managed to decorate the tree, finish all my Christmas shopping and set up the nativity scene.  It was a busy day yesterday!  Just two more days to Christmas!  Are you ready?
