“Each of you has a personal vocation which He has given you for your own joy and sanctity. When a person is conquered by the fire of His gaze, no sacrifice seems too great to follow Him and give Him the best of ourselves. This is what the saints have always done, spreading the light of the Lord … and transforming the world into a welcoming home for everyone.” – Pope Benedict XVI
Everyone has a vocation. From the moment that God thought you into being, He knew the plans He had for you. The challenge for us is, of course, figuring out what exactly our vocation is, having the patience to wait if necessary to find out what that vocation is or to pursue our particular vocation, and trusting in God that He will reveal it to us.
There are many different possible vocations. Team Orthodoxy, God, and the Church Militant, Suffering, and Triumphant wants you to find which one God is calling you to, because it is in that vocation that you will find great joy. Our Blessed Lord promises us “seek, and you will find”. Our God is a God who keeps his promises, so ask for His help, and He will reveal to you the vocation He has called you to. Be patient but persistent. He will fulfill the deepest desires of your heart as long as you place Him first in your life.
If you have already found your vocation, the following pages can help you appreciate and learn about other vocations, and can help solidify your own. It is important for us to be reminded about the duties of our state of life as well as to pray for those in other states of life than ours. We’re all being called by God, yet are on different journeys. Please take some time to check out the pages below and say a prayer for people you may know, or may not know, who are living in these states of life.
